Massages

Choose between three different types of massages – Swedish, Mother-to-be, and custom.

Swedish Massages: Swedish massages are one of the most popular massages when it comes to massage treatments. If you never had a professional massage before, this type of massage is what a “typical” massage would be like. The masseuse uses long strokes, kneading, and friction motions to help alleviate any muscle soreness and with help with overall body relaxation.

Mother-to-be: If you are expecting, this massage is perfect to relieve the tension and stress put on your body while carrying (growing!) a child. The Umstead focuses on helping hip and back pain, and improving circulation. This type of massage is done from a side-lying position for safety and comfort.

Custom: Custom massage treatments allow you to choose a combination between Swedish, Aromatherapy (rubbing and kneading of the skin with plant oils that give off strong, pleasant aromas to promote relaxation), Hot Stone (the use and placement of heated rocks on different points of the body and used to assist on applying deeper pressure by the masseuse), Deep Tissue (aims to reach deeper layers of muscle and connective tissue), and Therapeutic techniques (helps relieve pain, reduce stress, and work on a specific problem) or just focus on a specific area to relax and relieve muscle tension.

 

I recommend Swedish, or a combination of Swedish, Aromatherapy, and/or Hot Stone for a post-boudoir session!

 

 

Other services: Body Treatments and Facials

Other treatments offered by The Umstead are body treatments and facials which can be equally relaxing. If you’re thinking about doing these treatments before your session, make sure you plan ahead. One thing we want to avoid is trying a new (or aggressive) treatment right before your session, as you may not know how your skin will react.
